From June 2012 onwards UGC-NET will be conducted in objective mode

All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions and will be held on the day of Examination in two separate sessions.

The Test will consist of three papers.

Paper-I
will be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/ research aptitude of the candidates. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.  This consist of 60 questions out of which 50 are to be attempted. Duration is 1 and 1/4 hours.

Paper-II will consist of short questions based on the subject selected by the candidates. Each of these papers will consist of a Test Booklet containing 50 objective type questions. The candidates will have to mark their response for each question on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet provided alongwith the Test Booklet. The detailed instructions for filling up the OMR Sheet will be sent to the candidates along with their Admit Card. Duration is 1 and 1/4 hours.

Paper-III will consist of 75 questions all of which are compulsory. Duration is 2 and 1/2 hours.

The candidates are required to obtain minimum marks separately in Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III. The syllabus of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III will remain the same. There will be no negative marking.
