Law School Admission Test—India, by The Law School Admission Council (LSAC)

For admission to the Three-Year LL.B. and the Five-Year B.A., LL.B. Degree Programmes

LSAT—India is a standardized test adopted by Law School Admission Council, USA (LSAC) specifically as an admission criteria by multiple law colleges across India for admission to the three-year Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree programme and the five-year B.A.,LL.B. degree programme. LSAT—India is designed to measure skills that are considered essential for success in law school – critical-thinking skills, such as logical reasoning and problem solving. These skills are considered as key to success in the practice of law throughout the world. Apart from being a gold standard in its field, LSAT—India offers law schools in India an unmatched access to reach out to international students through its overseas testing centre facility.

About the Test :

The LSAT- India is a paper-and-pencil test with four sections. Two of the sections contain logical reasoning questions; one section contains analytical reasoning questions; and one section contains reading comprehension questions. The amount of time allotted for each section is 35 minutes. There is one 15-minute break between sections 2 and 3. All questions are multiple-choice, and answers are collected on a scannable answer sheet. There will be two versions of the LSAT - India ; one for the B.A., LL.B. programme applicants, and another for the LL.B. applicants, in view of the difference in their education level.

Registration

The registration fee for the LSAT—India for candidates testing within India is Rs.3500. For candidates testing outside India, the registration fee is USD 150. The online registration window is from 15th Dec, 2011 to 15th April, 2012. Registration for the LSAT—India is online and can be done by submitting the form on the LSAT—India website. Payment for the registration by test takers in India can be done online (via credit card only) or through a demand draft. The demand draft should reach on or before 12th April, 2012. Candidates should write “LSAT—India” at the bottom of the envelope. If you are a candidate testing from outside India, you can pay online via a credit card only.

On completion of their registration all candidates will get an LSAT—India registration number. Candidates will need to mention this LSAT—India registration number while submitting the application forms of the participating colleges. After obtaining the LSAT—India registration number, the candidate must download/obtain the Application Form from the participating college; the college Admission Application Forms will require candidates to mention their LSAT—India registration number. Candidates must ensure that they write their LSAT—India registration number at the given place in the Application Form of the participating colleges.

All registrants who complete the test registration, pay the test fee in a timely way, and follow published test rules may sit for the LSAT—India - It is your responsibility to understand the eligibility requirements of the participating law schools to which you are applying before deciding whether to register for the LSAT—India. If you register for the test and then determine that you are ineligible for admission to your intended law school, no test- fee refund will be available.

Test Scores of all students writing the LSAT—India will be transmitted to the participating colleges.

Confirmation of completed registration and payment will be sent by electronic mail only. Pearson VUE shall not be held responsible for non-receipt of confirmation either on account of or bouncing of mails in case of electronic confirmation.

Registration forms received without the proper notified registration fee or insufficient or incorrect details or received beyond the specified closing time and date for submitting the registration form, will be summarily rejected and Pearson VUE shall not entertain any queries with respect to the same.

Instructions about Day of the Test

The Candidates are required to reach the Test Centre latest by 11 a.m. on the date of the examination. Since the test procedure will start sharp at 11.30 a.m., Candidates reporting at the Test Centre after 11.00 a.m. will not be admitted. No requests for exceptions will be entertained in this regard. The Test Administrator is not authorized to admit candidates arriving later than 11.00 a.m. Testing Centres will not be air conditioned.

The Candidate needs to bring the following to the Test Centre

Test Admit Card, without which you will not be allowed to take the test.
HB pencils, erasers, and sharpeners.
One valid (non-expired) photo identification proof. The following are considered valid Photo ID documents.
i. Driving License
ii. PAN Card
iii. Passport
iv. Voter ID card
v. College/University Identity Card

If a registrant for five-year LSAT-India does not have any of the above IDs, she/he will be admitted upon presentation of any two of the following:
i.Tenth pass Certificate/Mark sheet that has date of birth on it
ii. School Identity Card (photo)
iii. Original admit card issued by University/Board for twelfth standard examination (photo)
