Eligibility :
Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary (10+2)
or its equivalent examination with five subjects including Physics,
Chemistry, Biology and English and obtained 50% marks in aggregate for
general candidates and 45% marks for the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe
candidates are eligible to apply.
The candidates should attain 17 years of age by 31st
December 2011. The candidates who have appeared for Higher secondary
(10+2) examination with above subjects in the current year are also
eligible to apply. Their candidature will be taken into consideration
provided that the result of examination is published before the admission
and they have secured the required percentage of marks which has to
be substantiated by production of documentary proof. Blind (including
colour blind) deaf and/or dumb candidates are not eligible to apply
for the course.
Selection :
The selection will be made on the basis of an all India
written competitive test (Admission Test) to be held at Kolkata, Delhi,
Mumbai, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram centres.
The admission test will be of three hours duration
and carrying an aggregate of 200 marks. The pattern of questions will
be of multiple choice (single correct answer) type 200 questions - Physics
(60 questions), Chemistry (60 questions), Biology (60 questions) and
General Knowledge (20 questions).
Reservation :
From this academic year 93(Ninety three) seats shall
be available for admission to the BHMS Course, out of this following
seats are reserved for different categories of candidates:
(i) Fourteen (14) seats are for the candidates nominated from the following
States/Union Territories : Jammu and Kashmir (1), Manipur (1), Meghalaya
(1), Mizoram (2), Nagaland (1), Sikkim (1), Tripura (2), Andaman and
Nicobar Island (1), Dadra and Nagar Haveli (1), Daman and Diu (1), Lakshadweep
(1) and Puducherry (1)
(ii) Six (06) seats are reserved for Foreign Nationals of which Five
(05) seats are for candidates from Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi
Sectoral Technical & Economic Co-operation (BIMSTEC) countries nominated
by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs,
Azad Bhavan, Indraprastha Estate, New Delhi and One (01) seat is reserved
for Foreign National candidates under self-financing scheme nominated
by the Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare,
Govt. of India.
(iii) Ten (10) seats are reserved for candidates sponsored
by Govt. of Sri Lanka through the Dept. of AYUSH, Govt.of India. (If
no candidates are sponsored by Govt. of Sri Lanka, these seats shall
remain vacant; no other candidate will be admitted against these seats).
(iv) The remaining seats will be filled through All-India Admission
Test of three hours duration. The pattern of questions will be of multiple
choice types 200 questions – Physics (60 questions), Chemistry
(60 questions), Biology (60 questions) and General Knowledge (20 questions).
There will be Negative marking for wrong answers.
(v) Reservation including to those belonging to Orthopaedically challenged
(OH)/OBC category will be made as per extant reservation instructions.
The candidates who are desirous of availing such reservation facilities
under OBC quota are required to enclose attested copy of their OBC certificate
issued by appropriate authority along with a declaration that she/he
does not belongs to creamy layer of the society(for the format see the
Institute website).
Application Procedure :
Filled in application (in candidate’s own handwriting)
is to be sent along with Bank draft for Rs.500/- (Rupees Five hundred
only) in favour of Director, National Institute of Homoeopathy, payable
at Kolkata (IPO/Cheque/Cash/Money order will not be accepted). No Bank
draft is required in case of SC/ST candidates but a copy of caste certificate
attested by a Gazetted Officer should accompany the application. Also
enclose 04 (four) identical copies of recent (taken after 31st March,
2011 with a placard showing candidate’s name and date of photo
/ the photographs should be taken without spectacles and cap/hat) passport
size (3.5 cm X 4.5 cm) colour photographs. [02 (two) copies are to be
pasted on the specified area on the application, which should be attested
by a Gazetted Officer after pasting with part of signature on the photograph
and part of signature on the application form, other 02 (two) unpasted
should be signed on the reverse by candidate]. Applications accompanied
by hazy, old or unidentifiable photographs are liable to be rejected
without assigning any reason. Candidates must put their full signature
in all the places asked for at all the stages of admission process.
Candidates need not send the Xerox copies of testimonials with application
(except attested copy of caste certificate in case of SC/ST candidates
claiming exemption from paying application fee) and OBC/Orthopaedically
Handicapped claiming for reservation in admissi
Result of the qualified candidates will be communicated
by post and the merit list will also be available in the NIH website
List of eligible candidates / their Roll number / name
of allotted centre for the All India Admission Test, Result of admission
test, List of candidates eligible for Counseling / date of counseling
and venue etc. will be available in the Institute website mentioned
earlier. Though intimation will be sent by post, candidates are requested
to check the website periodically as Institute will not be responsible
for non-receipt / delay in receipt of communications sent by post.
