The Union Public Service Commission will hold a Screening Test for selection to Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination, 2024 through Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2024 which will be held on May 26th, 2024, in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Environment and Forests in the Gazette of India.
PLAN OF EXAMINATION
The Indian Forest Service Examination will consist of two successive stages
(vide Appendix I Section-I below).
(i) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) for the selection
of candidates for the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination; and
(ii) Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the
selection of candidates for the Indian Forest Service.
Applications are now invited for the Preliminary Examination only. Candidates who will be declared by the Commission to have qualified for admission to the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination will have to apply again, in the Online Detailed Application Form which would be made available on the Website of the Commission after declaration of Results of Preliminary Examination.
The Main Examination is likely to be held in November, 2024.
Age Limits :
The age limit to apply for the UPSC IFS post is 21 years to 32 years. The Upper age limit is relaxable for candidates belonging to scheduled castes/scheduled tribes/ other backward classes and certain other categories.
Educational Qualification:
The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification
Candidates who are studying in final year Degree Course and have yet to pass final year degree examination or equivalent examination can also apply for examination, but they will be required to submit proof of passing by the specified dates published in Commission's Notice for Examination.
Nationality
A candidate must be either :-
(a) A citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1963 with the
intention of permanently settling in India.
