The West Bengal government today inaugurated a ' Civil Services Study Centre,'the first of its kind in the state, to help students prepare for IAS, IPS, WBCS (Exe) examinations. The centre was set up at the Administrative Training Institute, Bidhannagar, under the initiative of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. "Our government is committed to extending all help for the bright future of our young generation," said Ms Banerjee. " We are for good governance, e-administration, e-tendering, time bound service delivery under the Right to Services Act and people-friendly administration," the chief minister said in her face book. She said despite talent and hard work the students of the state could not prepare themselves for such examination in the absence of any training centre in the past. " Senior faculties have been inducted from reputed academic institutions to conduct the classes. We want more and more students to join the Study Centre." added the chief minister. The government has taken active initiative for setting up a coaching centre after finding dearth of IAS and IPS officers from Bengal. Bengal has a quota of 349 IAS officers. But around 150 posts remain vacant. |
