Alumni of major US universities are coming to interact with Indian students

Indian students will get a unique opportunity to interact with the alumni of higher education of the US to get first hand information on academic and social life of the country they plan to go for further studies at Education USA's annual fair to be held here on Saturday.

Indian students in the United States contribute more than 5-billion-dollar to the US economy and support more than 64,000 jobs. Today, every sixth international student is from India 166,000 in total representing a 25 per cent growth from the previous year.

The unique feature of this fair is that universities are represented by alumni and current students rather than university admissions officials. Among the major participating universities are Arizona State University, Arizona, Clark University, Massachusetts, Columbia University, New York, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland, Ohio Wesleyan University, Ohio, Stanford University, California, State University of New York at Oswego, New York, Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey and State University of New York at Buffalo, New York, United States India Educational Foundation (USIEF) said in a statement here today.

The fair is being held by USIEF, which was established in 1950 under a bilateral agreement on educational exchange between India and the United States. EducationUSA is a global network of advising centres in 170 countries that is supported by the US Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA).
