With the aim of expanding educational horizon in city, the Pune-based Symbiosis International University has decided to set up its campus on Nagpur Municipal Corporation's 75 acre landat Wathoda in the East Nagpur.
Significantly, of the proposed 4,000 seats, 25 per cent will be reserved for locals who will also get 15 per cent concession in fees.
Briefing the media today, Symbiosis International University director Vidya Yervadkar stated that Symbiosis has great presence in educational field. The Rs 230 crore Symbiosis campus, to be ready by 2021, will offer a range of courses. Apart from Management and Law, other courses include Planning & Architecture, Aviation Engineering, Sports Science, Fashion & Textile Designing and Waste Management. ''Stress will be on courses related to skill development oriented courses as Nagpur is getting expanded in Cargo, Aviation and Food Processing sectors rapidly. Hence, our focus will be on such courses that will benefit the local youths,'' she said. Efforts were being made to start Law courses from the year 2018, Ms Yervadkar said. The foundation laying ceremony of the proposed campus will be held tomorrow, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, she added.
