ITBP Basic Training Centre, Bhanu

The Basic Training Centre of ITB Police was established at Karera, Shivpuri (MP) in 1962. The Centre was shifted to Distt. Kullu (HP) in 1977, and to its present location, Bhanu, in District Panchkula (Haryana) in the month of June 1991.

Basic Training Centre chisels and shapes new entrants at the levels of Constables and Head Constables and turns them into a combat soldier capable of performing border management tasks as well multidimensional tasks like Counter Insurgency Operations and Internal Security. The Training Centre has specialised in the training of 'Instructors' in Drill, Weapons, PT and Judo and therefore also attracts trainees from State and Central Police Forces. It also conducts in-service training of section level commanders, besides having a separate wing for training of dogs and horses and its handlers and riders.

National Institute for Training in Search, Rescue and Disaster response ((NITSRDR)), Bhanu

National Institute for Training in Search, Rescue and Disaster response at Bhanu, Haryana which is imparting training to personnel of ITBP and other Paramilitary / State Police Forces. It is a National level premier institute of ITBP to provide training in the field of Disaster Management to NDRF Battalions, CPOs and State Police organizations of Northern India. It was established in the year 2003 at Basic Training Centre, Bhanu near Ramgarh, Haryana and later shifted to village Madanpur, Sec-26, Panchkula, Haryana. 

There is also a training center for the Dogs at Basic Training center situated at Bhanu. The center is known as NICD.

ITBP Academy, Mussourie

The ITBP Academy was established in the year 1978. Directly recruited Officers of the rank of Assistant Commandants, who constitute senior leadership of the Force and directly recruited Sub-Inspectors, who constitute subordinate leadership level, are trained in ITBP Academy. Besides imparting initial training to these Officers, the Academy has developed specialisation in disciplines like Counter Insurgency Operations, Rock climbing, VIP protection, and identification and handling of improvised explosive devices.

ITBP Academy has a Research and Development wing which specialises in identifying training needs of the Force and in designing various training programmes. The sponsorship of trainees to ITBP Academy is not confined to India alone, as it has on its alumni officers from Nepal and Uganda also.

Mountaineering and Skiing Institute, Auli

Mountaineering and Skiing Institute, a premier Institution of the country on Mountaineering and Skiing was established in 1973 as a Winter Craft Wing of the Force. In 1990 it was re-christened as Mountaineering and Skiing Institute.

The Mountaineering and Skiing Institute imparts specialised training to the members of the Force in Mountaineering, Skiing, Survival in High Altitude, Rescue Operations and River Rafting. Specialisation of the Institute in these disciplines attracts trainees from Central and State Police Forces, including Defence Forces. It is a matter of pride that the Institute conducts pre-Antarctica induction training for the Indian Expedition in Snow/Ice Craft and Survival Techniques in High Altitude.
