The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court today directed the Uttar Pradesh Government to strictly comply with the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE) guidelines while conducting the TET exam in future in the state.
The directive was given during a hearing into a PIL filed by social activist Dr Nutan Thakur regarding violation of Guidelines in Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) for language (including Urdu) teachers during 2013-14 by the UP government.
The bench comprising Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice Vivek Chaudhari gave this order after hearing Nutan and the State government counsel Shailendra Singh Chauhan. The Court refused to quash the appointment of language teachers selected through the TET examination during 2013-14, saying that the petitioner had not made them party in the petition. At the same time, the Court allowed the petitioner to present any petition in future after making the selected candidates opposite parties in the petition.
