SKF, country's leading global supplier of bearings today announced the launch of 'UDAAN' scholarship programme for girls of Marathwada region in Maharashtra.
Addressing a press conference here Shrikant Savangikar, Director CSR, said, ''Our aim is to support girls from economically weaker sections, to attain higher education through complete financial aid.''
The programme will cover all the educational expenses starting from class XI till the completion of professional course and build their own future overcoming financial challenges and become self-reliant.
Various initiatives for personality, holistic development and career guidelines were also considered in this programme, he said.
Marathwada region comprises eight districts Aurangabad, Beed, Jalna, Latur, Osmanabad, Parbhani, Nanded and Hingoli is one of the most drought prone region of the state, the financial crisis impacts the education of many meritorious girls.
''UDAAN, programme is our endeavour to give platform to such needy meritorious students to study and prosper,'' Mr Savangikar said .
Students scoring more than 85 per cent in SSC examination will be applicable to get the benefits of this programme but their family income should be less than RS. 2.5 lakh per annum, he added.
