SRU to introduce four new UG courses this year

Sri Ramachandra University (SRU) would start four new UG paramedical courses in B.Sc. Bioinformatics, B.Sc. Health informatics, B.Sc. Data Sciences and B.Sc. (Hons) Environmental Health Sciences from the current academic year. Environmental Health Sciences is a four year course with one year internship, the other three would be three year courses with six month internship.

A SRU release here today said Students with Plus-2 and equivalent qualification with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics or Botany and Zoology, Computer Sciences background could apply. Bioinformatics students could join other Universities in India and abroad for higher studies in biomedical sciences, molecular biology, biotechnology, bioinformatics, human genetics and other life science programs. The student who completes this program will be highly skilled analyst in biological data, informatics and computation programming.

Health Informatics students could also pursue PG program and Research (PhD) such as Bioinformatics, Biomedical Informatics, Clinical Informatics, Applied Informatics and Other interdisciplinary domains. Such specialists were in high demand in healthcare services. Data Sciences students could do PhD in Data Sciences, Bioinformatics, Medical Bioinformatics, Clinical Informatics, Applied Informatics and Other inter-disciplinary domains.

Environmental Health Sciences students can do P.G. course in India and abroad in environmental sciences, public health, molecular biology, biotechnology, bioinformatics, human genetics and other life science programs. They will become skilled technologists in water, air food quality testing, disease surveillance and environmental management and conservation and will be able to take a technologist job.
