An institute on the lines of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar will be set up in Maharashtra soon to work for the upliftment of poor underprivileged tribal children of the state.

KISS is a residential institute for tribal people based in Bhubaneswar providing free education, accommodation, study, career development, and health care to 25,000 tribal students of Odisha.

The foundation stone laying ceremony for the institute, to be known as Lions Choice KISS Residential School, was held on Sunday at Jambha Village in Vikramgad Taluka of Palghar district, located just 100 KM from Mumbai. The school is all likely to start functioning from the next academic session.

Palghar is primarily tribal dominated district, where the young boys and girls don't have access to good schools and are deprived of quality education.

To address this challenge, KISS will lead the way by starting its branch in collaboration with Lions Mumbai Choice Foundation under the leadership of CA Sunil Patodia, District Governor, 3231, Lions Club.

The infrastructure and establishment costs will be borne by the Foundation for which an initial investment of 60 crores will be made. 5000 underprivileged boys and girls will get a new lease of life through the School which is based on fully free, fully residential format.

On the occasion of Foundation Laying ceremony KISS founder Dr. A Samanta said, for last five years he has been planning to open a branch of KISS for the underprivileged children in Maharashtra.

Finally, the long cherished dream of empowering the underprivileged children in Maharashtra is coming true due to the love and concern of Mr Patodia, he said.
