K M College of Engineering, the first Government- aided engineering college in Kerala, is situated in the cashew hub of Kerala, City of Kollam. Spanning over an area of more than 25 Acres, it is ideally located, in Karikode, on the Kollam- Chenkotta road, about 5 kilometers from the heart of the city. The campus, a distinctive landmark that cuts above the rest is built in the aesthetic Indo Saracenic architectural style with mughal influence.The college is the first and foremost institution for technical education, run by the T K M Educational Trust, headed by Janab Shahal Hassan Musaliar. The foundation stone of the college was laid in the year 1956 by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of Independent India. The college was formally inaugurated by Prof. Humayun Kabir, the then Minister for Scientific and Cultural Affairs, Govt. of India, on 3rd July, 1958.

Placement Service Available: areer Guidance and Placement Unit (CGPU) has played a vital role in ensuring that the alumni of the institution are well placed the world over. With a close watch on the changing employment scenario, the Unit has always guided students in their career options and facilitated recruitment drives of prestigious companies.CGPU operates on a four-tier system, the upper most being the Advisory Council, comprising of a member of the TKM Trust, Principal, Dean, Heads of all Departments and the CGPU core team. The second tier which is the Core team consists of the Head of the Unit, Placement Officer, Faculty in charge of Finance and Faculty in charge of Drives and Database. The third tier consists of coordinators from all Departments. The fourth and the most important tier is formed of final year student representatives from all branches.CGPU is well equipped to conduct training and placement drives in the campus. The facilities include four air-conditioned halls of a total seating capacity of around 1400, four computing facilities with cumulative capacity of around 300 computers and fifteen cabins to conduct interviews and group discussions.
