10+2 ('A' Levels) with Physics, Chemistry, mathematics with minimum 60% marks in PCM or B.Sc. Graduates with 55% marks in the final year, minimum 50 % marks in English at 10th or 12th level is must. Should be fluent in written & spoken English

Aptitude and written tests follows by an interview; The final selection will only takes place after medical check-up

Age Limit: Not exceeding 20 years (22 years in case of B.Sc. Graduates) on the date of commencement of training; Medically fit with eyesight 6/6, without external aids. No color blindness
On successful completion of the semester 1 & 2 Diploma in Nautical Science is awarded by Indira Gandhi National open University (IGNOU). on completion of the pre-sea training he undertakes the sea phase compressing of 18 months comprising semester 3,4 & 5 of on board ship residential training along with correspondence course with Indira Gandhi national Open university (IGNOU). On successful completion of phase II (semester3,4 &5) IGNOU will award the trainee with Advance Diploma in Nautical Science, Trainee is required to undergo 4 months post-sea training in any training institute (2nd Mate Function) on Successful completion of the training & 'Passing the exam he will be awarded Certificate of Competency by Director General of Shipping and B.Sc. Degree in Nautical Science) by IGNOU
