Jeyanthinather Academy of Marine Studies is a part of SPET and it is approved by DGS (Directorate General of Shipping – Government of India) on August 2015. Jeyanthinather Academy of Marine Studies (JAMS) is situated in a sprawling 30 acres campus with a panoramic view. Nature is generous in lending a lush green outlook and greenery of the college. JAMS are ideally located adjoining sea in a sprawling campus with well-furnished class rooms, modern teaching aids, seamanship/engineering laboratory and technical library. Having located near to thisaiyanvilai, our Marine College utilizes the facilities of Thoothukudi Port Trust as well as M/s. Poompuhar Shipping Corporation and shipping companies.
Communication Lab: Attitude, Communication & Knowledge are three essentials for students to succeed in their career. We emphasize more on these three aspects thoroughly to make our students competent and capable mariners.The need for effective communication is become more essential is this competitive world to face the challenges in communication. We conduct international Spoken English classes for our students in this daily routine. We also provide a technical marine communication to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of communication in various situations in this work environment. We provide specially designed training program to the students in order to improve their employability skills and to prepare them to face the interview boards more effectively. The objective of this program is to provide the students with an integrated module of personality enhancement emphasizing those areas which are essential for the overall growth and development of a confident and well groomed professional. At JAMS Marine College, our qualified in-house trainers for communication skills provide language training where students learn to speak and communication effectively.
Central Library: Library services at JAMS Marine College are the cornerstone of our education system. The mission of our library services is to facilitate creation of new knowledge through acquisition, organization and dissemination of knowledge resources. The libraries at JAMS Marine College have spacious reading hall, periodical centre, group discussion rooms and online database browsing area. The JAMS library offer a wide range of materials in a variety of formats from traditional books and serials to films, multimedia and networked information from around the world. Highly skilled staff assists students to use the local collections and find information on specific topics. Our libraries are a learning space where students are inspired to explore research and create. Our libraries are not only the place to think, but also an informal work area where students gather to collaborate. Social elements include a lounge areas, and newspapers. Use our libraries to study for exams, finish assignments, and to balance study and work. Our Library is fully Air-conditioned and more than 2000 volumes of books in Nautical, Engine, Management, Physics, and Chemistry, Tamil, English and general knowledge books. International and National Journals and Magazine.
Computer Lab: The computing centre’s at our institution aims at providing opportunity to students to enhance their learning through surfing thorough internet. The lab is staffed with personnel ready to assist users. Users of the lab enjoy surfing through 16 Mbps Broad Board connecting the center has adequate computer systems connected across LAN.
Health Club: A modern well equipped gymnasium for students have been setup to take care of their physical health have been setup to take care of their physical health and fitness periodic yoga sessions are also conducted for the development of body mind and soul.
Hostel Facility
Hostel Facilities Available: A home-away-from home atmosphere is provided for students in an area of 10,529 Sq.m. The architecture designed building and the surrounding offer a green, pleasant and eco-friendly atmosphere which stimulates positive learning. It provides a lively environment which helps healthy interaction among the students with a recreation among the students with a recreation hall for viewing TV programmes, internet browsing and indoor games in separate places within the campus.
Placement Service Available: Placement Cell interacts with the reputed shipping companies and RPSL companies for arranging campus interviews for our students. We make efforts to organize technical seminars, workshops and corporate expectation sessions. Industry personnel are invited periodically to enrich the knowledge of our student community with the latest technological innovations and industry practices. We produce mariners who are well equipped to handle the working norms of the industry. Jams Marine College has active placement cell, training programmes on soft skills are imparted on a regular basis, thus moulding the students to face the recruitment process. Placement cell has also taken the initiative to train the students who are weak in communication skills.
