Faculty of Fine Arts was founded in June 1950. For the first time in independent India, a programme of study was introduced to offer UG/Diploma, PG/Post-Diploma Courses and Research facilities. Art was envisaged as an integral part of life for the new citizens. The emphasis was laid on individuality through knowledge of Indian and Western traditions. The Faculty is situated opposite Sayaji Baug and Baroda Museum in the leafy green surroundings adjacent to Sayaji Gunj. The pleasant environment and atmosphere of openness and freedom is backed by spacious and well-equiped studios. The training programme is oriented to one's individual ability and expression through one to one teaching, group tutorials and seminars, visual aids, books, exhibitions, visiting artists, craftsmen and activities like study tours and field trips to provide necessary exposure.

1 .	B.A. Painting, Sculpture, Applied Arts
	Eligibility Higher secoHigher Secondary (XII Std.) of Gujarat State with 'English' as one of the subjects
	Duration 3 years
	Admission Procedure On the basis of Aptitude test

2 .	Bachelor of Visual Arts (BVA)
	Eligibility Applicants seeking admission for B.V.A (Degree) in (Applied Arts) Programme require H.Sc. level OR its equivalent examination pass with 50% marks (Relaxation will be given to SC/ST candidates as per govt. rules) in any stream as a full time student and NOT ABOVE 23 YEARS OF AGE at the time of admission. They must have English as one of the subjects in 12th Std. Those candidates who have passed 12th Std. without English, should apply for the Diploma Programme. Candidates who are weak in English should also consider Diploma as all exams in theoretical subjects are conducted in English. Please note once enrolled in Degree Programme there is no option of switching to Diploma Programme.

3 .	Diploma in Painting
	Eligibility Higher Secondary (XII Std.) of Gujarat State irrespective of passing it with English as one of the subjects, subject to passing the prescribed aptitude test to be held by the Faculty of Fine Arts

4 .	M.A. Graphic Arts
	Eligibility B.A. (Fine) of this University, if the students have taken Graphic Arts as a subsidiary subject for their degree or if they show convincing proof of their aptitude and ability to undergo these courses
	Duration 2 years

5 .	M.A. Painting, Sculpture, Applied Arts
	Eligibility B.A. (Fine) in the relevant subject. Students who hold B.A. (Fine) in Applied Arts, Graphic Arts or Sculpture be considered eligible for M.A. (Fine) Course in Creative Painting, Portrait Painting and Mural Design, subject to aptitude and excellence in the area of admission sought. Graduates in Architecture may be considered for M.A. (Fine) in Painting for the M.A. (Fine) course in Illustration

6 .	Master of Visual Arts (MVA)
	Eligibility B.A. (Fine) in Art History or B.A. (Fine) in any of the Fine Arts or a Humanities degree with special aptitude and background of the subject. University graduates other than those in Humanities be also considered for admission, if they show proof of aptitude in the Fine Arts and familiarity with art objects and literature on art, provided they put in one additional year to cover the pre- requisites

9 .	Post Graduate Diploma in Painting, Sculpture, Applied Arts
	Eligibility Diploma in the relevant subject or its equivalent examination recognized by the University. Students holding Diploma or its equivalent recognized examination in Applied Arts, Graphic Arts or Sculpture may be considered for Post-Diploma Course in Creative Painting, Portrait Painting and Mural Design subject to aptitude and excellence in the area of admission sought. Students holding Diploma in Painting may be considered for Post-Diploma Course in Illustration
