On the 17th of May 1998, AIMS was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in the presence of Her Holiness, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. The Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences is the adjunct to the term "new Universalism" coined by the World Health Organization. The Amrita School of Medicine was founded in 2002 by Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amma. Amrita University is accredited with the highest grade of 'A' by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

1 .	Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
	Eligibility A pass in 12th standard with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology from any State Board, CBSE or equivalent
	Duration 4.5 Years

2 .	Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)
	Eligibility 3.Must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English individually and have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in English and 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together, from any State Higher Secondary Board or equivalent. NRI's and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) who qualify from foreign universities will have to produce an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.; 2.Pass in 12th standard in the first attempt
	Duration Five years plus six months Internship (Optional)
	Admission Procedure Selection is based on the rank obtained in the All India entrance test conducted by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham

3 .	Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
	Eligibility 3.Must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology & English individually and have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in English and 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Biotechnology taken together, from any State Higher Secondary Board or equivalent. 	Eligibility 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. In place of Biology, Bio-Technology / Computer Science or Maths are also acceptable. (For SC/ST candidates, minimum marks required is 40%).
	Duration Four years with two months practical training in Industry and Hospital
