The Puducherry Engineering college will be upgraded into a technical university in the next couple of years, Education minister R Kamalakannan said here today.
Inaugurating a two-day conference of Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering of the college on `computational intelligence`, Mr Kamalakannan said the Central government would provide funds under RUSA for upgrading the college into a technical university. He wanted the engineering college to notch top position while it ranked the 49th place at the all India level now. The Puducherry government is taking steps to ensure that the benefits of IT reaches all, he said, adding that the students should concentrate more on research and invention.
Dr.V Jagadeesh Kumar from IIT Chennai and Dr.Vitawat Sittakul from King Mongkut's University of Technology, North Bangkok also spoke at the conference.
