For the first time as many as 20 tribal students of the Kalinga Institute of Social Science (KISS) here will leave for China in July next to pursue their Bachelors Degree courses with assured jobs after graduation. KISS CEO P K Routray told newspersons here that the students would pursue their three year degree course in the subject of their choice in Yangzhou Polytechnic College (YPC).
In the initial year the students would be imparted a course in Mandarin after that they would be allowed to take up course of their choice. They could take up courses like computer science, automobile engineering, architecture and mechanical engineering. Dr Routray said, since Chinese is the main medium of instructions in China, the students would be taught Chinese by Chinese instructors for two months in May and June here at KISS. He said the arrangement was made after KISS founder Achyut Samanta signed an MoU with YPC general secretary Zhou Sheng during his visit to China in March last.
As per the agreement YPC would provide free education to the students to complete their three year course and help them provide sustainable livelihood. The students who have completed their plus two science were selected through a process provided by the Chinese counterpart on the basis of the marks they have secured in physics, chemistry, mathematics and their educational performances.
After the completion of their course, the students would be provided jobs in top Chinese multinational companies based in India. The students if wanted could also serve in China, he said. The CEO said, efforts are on to arrange scholarship and study of KISS students in reputed institutions of other countries.
