St Xavier's University's new campus at New Town to be opened on July 8 with offering seven new courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students for 2017-18 academic year, announced Father Felix Raj.
The courses are B Com, BBA/BMS for under graduate students, and MA in English, MA in Mass Communication, M Com ( finance & Insternational Business) and MSW for post graduate students the Principal told a group visiting media people at the New Town campus on Wednesday. Classes will be commenced from the same month (July 2017) and fees would be announced later.
Some 650 students may be enrolled for the first year and the figure would go beyond 12,000 by next 9 years time in the 17 acres campus, thanks to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for donating land as well as grant of several crores of rupees. Courses to be offered from 2018-19 are BA in Mass Communication, MA Multimedia and Animation, MBA, MA in Economics, B Ed and M Ed under Vision 2025 by the city's premier institution.
St. Xavier's College had become the first in Bengal and 3rd college across the country to earn the highest grade of A++ in the new eight-point evaluation scale of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The 157-year-old institute run by Jesuits scored a cumulative grade point average of 3.77 out of 4, the highest among the three institutes to be awarded the top A++ grade so far. Principal of St Xavier's college Father Felix Raj, will be the first vice-chancellor of St Xavier's University.
