Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) established by The Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI), from 2024 onwards. Before 2024, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) was conducting the exam. JEE Main is conducted in two sessions. Session 1 in January, and Session 2 in April every year, for admissions in the next academic session.
JEE (Main) comprises of two papers. Paper 1 is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E. / B. Tech.) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) and Institutions / Universities funded / recognized by participating State Governments. JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning courses in the country. JEE (Main) - 2025 NTA Scores will be considered for preparation of the Merit List/ Ranking in many prestigious institutes in the country.
Eligibility Criteria for JEE (Main) Exam 2025
JEE Main is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12thclass examination.
The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE (Main) shall be limited to 03 (three).
Exam Pattern for JEE Main 2025
Mode of Examination
The JEE (Main) - 2025 is being
conducted in the following modes:
a) Paper 1 (B.E. /B. Tech.) in “Computer
Based Test (CBT)” mode.
b) Paper 2A (B. Arch): Mathematics (Part-I) and
Aptitude Test (Part-II) in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode and Drawing Test
(Part-III) in pen and paper (offline) mode, to be attempted on drawing sheet
of A4 size.
c) Paper 2B (B. Planning): Mathematics (Part-I), Aptitude Test
(Part-II), and Planning-Based Questions (Part-III) in Computer-Based Test
(CBT) mode.
The Question Paper has been divided into two sections. There will be 90
Questions in Paper 1 and candidates will be required to attempt 75 questions
only. There will be negative markings for 15optional questions.
i. Paper 1
(B.E./B.Tech.): Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of
Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose
answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have
to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be negative markings for
both Section A and Section B.
ii. Paper 2A (B. Arch.): Part -1 will have two
sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B
will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value.
In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There
will be negative markings for both Section A and Section B. Part II (Aptitude
Test) will have 50 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs). Part III (Drawing Test)
will have two questions to be attempted on the Drawing Sheet.
iii. Paper 2B (B. Planning): Part -1 will have two sections.Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be negative markings for both Section A and Section B. Part II (Aptitude Test) will have 50 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs). Part III (Planning-based question) will have 25 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs).

There will be 3 sections in the form, as below:
i. Step 1 - Registration
Form
ii. Step 2 - Application Form This includes filling in personal details,
applying for and examination cities, qualification details, additional details
(if any), and document upload).
iii. Step 3 - Fee Payment.
Important Note - The entire application process is online, including uploading of photograph & signature and payment of fee the candidates are required NOT to send any document to JEE (Main) Secretariat.
