De Souza Trust Goa Scholarship and the Goa Education Trust (GET) Scholarship is awarded for the young inventive Goan students for their post graduate studies in the United Kingdom. Administrated by the British council, this scholarships has been introduced from the year 1998.
Organised by the industrious Dempo and Fomento groups from Goa, Goa Education Trust (GET) aimed to provide the Goan citizens an efficient medium to pursue the best available opportunities in the field of education, in whatever areas they desire. For that, GET will provide scholarships/ research fellowships etc. to the eligible candidates for their post graduate studies in the UK.
The De Souza Trust Goa Scholarship is intended to provide financial support for self-motivated dynamic young people of Goan origin or for those holding Goan domicile, to study or train in the UK. The subsidize to the scholarship is from the estate of Mr. Diego Frank De Souza.
The scholarships are awarded for the study in diverse subjects like :
The scholarships are fully valued for :
• Full or part tuition fees
• UK Visa
All other expenses must be borne by the students.
For applying the scholarship, the applicant should be :
• a graduate and have excellent academic track record
and extra curricular achievement
• an Indian citizen with a valid Indian passport and residing
in India at the time of applying for the scholarship
• a resident in Goa, or born of Goan parents
• not more than 30 years old at the time of applying for
the scholarship
• have confirmed admission for any academic course of study
in the UK for up to one year
The registration for the scholarship can be done online. Use your most frequently use e-mail id for the registration, as all the correspondence related to the scholarships will be through the email id that you have registered. While filling the online application, make sure that the details provide are accurate.
On submitting the application form, an acknowledgement message along with a unique identification number will be received. Please make a note of this number for future reference.
In addition to the online application, the applicants are required to post or courier the following :
• two hard copy Reference letters (not more than one A4 size page each)
(You should submit one academic and one professional reference letter
each. In case you are a recent graduate, you may submit two academic
references).
• a copy of
offer letter/admission letter from the UK institution.
Please mention your unique identification number, on the envelope.
Note
Hard copies of the applications will not be valid.
Applications not accompanied by the supporting documents will not be considered.
Please do not send us any other documents other than the reference letters
and a copy of your offer/admission letter.
If short-listed, candidates will be requested to submit further documentation.
Short-listed candidates will be invited for personal interviews in Goa
and will be required to carry original copies of relevant documents. All
costs related to the interviews such as travel and accommodation will
have to be borne by the candidate.
Following are the required documents has to be provided along with the application
• If the applicant is of Goan origin - documentary proof of share of
the applicant or his/ her parents in an ancestral property in Goa which
is utilized as the family’s residence or business premises.
• If the applicant
holds a Goan domicile (Any one of the following document)
Copy of the domicile certificate issued by the Goa Government
Documentary proof of residence/ education/ employment of the applicant
in Goa for at least 10 years
