Milaap provides Fellowship Program for graduates and young professionals for six-months to live, experience and contribute to an important cause while documenting inspiring stories of change. It is offering a full-time position for 09th batch starting January of the coming year.

 Milaap is India's leading crowdfunding platform for personal and social causes. Fellowship Program provides young professionals with the opportunity to work on the ground with rural communities, field partners, and  borrowers of Milaap to tell their story

The primary role of the fellow is to meet borrowers who have been funded by Milaap, and tell their stories. They will spend six months in a small town in rural India, and write short updates on each of the borrowers that rhey meet.

Key Responsibilities of the fellows

1. Content Creation:

Conduct weekly review of loan profiles posted by Milaap's partner on the Loan Portal, conduct due diligence, and write compelling loan stories based on the information collected.

Contribute engaging features to the Milaap blog twice a month. This could include their experiences in the field, profiles of people they interact with, writeups about the area and unique culture, or general updates relating to microfinance.

2. Stakeholder Management:

Interact with a variety of stakeholders from various rural and semi-urban backgrounds.

Meet and interview borrowers funded by Milaap, verify loan data, understand how the borrowed funds were used, and write short Impact stories based on this information.

Gather information for loan updates through a randomly picked sample of borrowers, in order to ensure the credibility of the answers

3. Process Improvement and training:

Train Field Partner staff on Milaap processes, policies and best practices, and on using the Loan portal where required and make recommendations to make the processes and the entire exercise, if needed

Train Field Partners to efficiently upload client profiles that are interesting, diverse and genuine

Provisions 

A stipend of INR 15,000 per month plus reimbursements for field visits and other job-related expenses

The Fellows will be paid a stipend on a monthly basis. However, they are expected to cover for their visa, flight tickets, and medical insurance. 

Eligibility Criteria :

Candidates who have Experience writing engaging content and  Experience in microfinance are more preffered

Selection Procedure

If the profile fits the requirements,candidates will call for interviews.

The starters have to attend a five-day training at Milaap headquarters in Bangalore. The training will cover the model, the tools, and the resources you will be needing during the Fellowship Program. Milaap will make sure to provide  with some essential information that you will need on your placement site too. The training will also give you an opportunity to meet and interact with the Milaap team.

Right after the training week, the fellows would leave for your assigned location. The initial 7 days can be used to settle into their location and get to know their Field Partner. Once on the field, you will be assigned a diverse set of daily tasks requiring creativity, sense of responsibility, and autonomy. Milaap would also like you to share your experiences on the field through blog posts. Your contributions to the Milaap blog and other content platforms such as Karmany Connect, The Better India and The Optimist Citizen will be read by a large audience.
