Murugappa Polytechnic College has emerged as a Polytechnic College of Excellence during the past five decades. It was started in August 1957 as a Government Aided Institution by AMM Foundation previously known as AMM Charities Trust, Chennai. The Institution is situated on a 12.5-hectare campus in the western part of Chennai on the Chennai - Tiruvallore High Road and is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu State Board of Technical Education.
The Polytechnic has advanced facilities in the areas of Communication Skills, CNC Machine Tools, Computers, CADD, Non-conventional energy devices, Electrical machines, Applied Electronics, PCB Making, Hardware Training, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, CNC Wire cut EDM, CMM, PLC and ROBOTICS. Prestigious MECHATRONICS system is set up and is used for training the students.
