Ramthakur College was born with an idea of overcoming a dearth of colleges in Agartala. Sri Promod Ranjan Bhatta took the initiative and in July 17 th 1967 the college came into being in Town Pratapgarh in a 6 room structure. Later it shifted to the present complex in the year 1982. Presently the college has all Arts, Science and Commerce streams with approximately 3000 students. It caters to the aspirations and dreams of boys and girls of sub-urban areas of Agartala.
The college has well equipped laboratories for each Science Departments.
