MPSTME LINEAGE Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) was established in 1981 by SVKM with the help of a donation from Narsee Monjee Educational Trust as a Management Institute affiliated to University of Mumbai. It became Deemed to be University in 2003 under Section 3 of India's University Grant Commission (UGC) Act. Deemed to be University is a nomenclature used for institutions granted University status by UGC – a federal regulatory body in Higher Education. MPSTME library is an essential component of the Institute, which is collectively support the teaching, research and extension programs of the Institute. The well-furnished and air-conditioned library is located on the ground floor of the institute and spread over 2,494 square feet. The library is divided into two sections: The Reading Hall with Stacking Area and The Administrative Area. The library provides a comfortable and friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge and promotes discovery. The mission of the library is to facilitate the creation of new knowledge through acquisition, organization, and dissemination of knowledge resources and providing for value added services. The library is fully automated with KOHA software. Users can login freely, high-speed Wi-Fi network to access the e-resources. Web-OPAC which is currently on the intranet gives detailed information about library books. Users can find out the real-time availability of library materials from their own computer terminals. The library has an open access system facilitating the free use of materials on the shelves.
