National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation and Museology (NMIHACM) is a Deemed to be University under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, located in the National Museum, New Delhi. The National Museum Institute of the History of Art, Conservation and Museology was formed and registered on January 27, 1989 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and was accorded the status of 'Deemed to be University' on April 28, 1989. Since its inception, the Institute has been one of the leading centres in the country for training and research in the field of art and cultural heritage. The Institute is situated within the premise of the National Museum with an objective that students can have direct exposure to the masterpieces of art and cultural heritage and have easy access to the facilities of the National Museum such as its laboratory, library, storage/reserve collection and technical support sections for a holistic learning.

On the basis of written test followed by interviews. The written tests for admissions will be of one hour’s duration and after the evaluation of the answer books, interviews will be conducted by a joint Selection Committee for all the courses.

MA course provides students a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical training to prepare for professional career in conservation of art and cultural heritage. The programme encompasses art-historical, archaeological, curatorial, and scientific studies of the works of art. The coursework combines a variety of teaching and training methodologies including lectures, seminars, essays, reviews, project works and hands-on practical learning to develop essential skills in critical thinking, decision making and communication, assessment and ethical conservation treatment of art and cultural heritage.
