Indian Institute of Technology Patna came into existence in 2008 by an Act of Parliament along with 7 other IITs, then referred to as the 2nd generation IITs. IIT Patna mission is to achieve "eminence" through vision of "excellence". Over a period of more than one and half decade, now IIT Patna has created a mark for itself in academics, research, innovation, entrepreneurship and employability of graduates (B. Tech), postgraduates (M.Tech./MSc.) and doctorates. IIT Patna alumni are spread in organizations ranging from top rated universities, multi-nationals, government organizations in India and abroad. The success story of IIT Patna alumni, creating a niche for themselves, has truly established the IIT Patna vision and mission.
The Institute is committed to encourage, inculcate and foster among students, core competency in specific branch of training focused with holistic approach through vibrant and competitive edge to develop practical skill in academics, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship aimed at producing leaders for tomorrow. Keeping stated objectives in mind, apart from academics, students are encouraged to participate in wide ranging co-curricular activities, industry internships in India and abroad, foreign visits in connection with project & research, and visits to industrial units to enable a wholesome training boosting their skills and knowledge.
