The Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur represents a distinctive culture of engineering and science education along with other areas of scholarship and generates research to best fulfil the current and emerging needs of society, enhancing its prosperity through environmentally sustainable means. Founded in 2008 in collaboration with France, IIT Jodhpur functions through centres of excellence with innovative curriculum design, interdisciplinary research and thought leadership, delivering to society leaders who are entrepreneurial and well-rounded.
The Residential area is situated on the outskirts of the city, on the New Pali Road. The area is divided into several blocks for the students. The faculty also resides in the same residential area. The area is safe with excellent security round the clock. It also has several courts for outdoors as well as indoor sports.
There is also a Computer Center and an extension of the Library to help students study at their leisure. All the hostels are also Wi-fi enabled. Several festivals and occasions are celebrated here with pomp and gaiety. The residential are also has lush green lawns which offer a very relaxing atmosphere amongst the busy activities of the institute.
The Student Placement Cell (SPC) is entirely run and managed by the students in harmony with the official authorities thereby taking care of the entire placement and internship procedure. The job of contacting various companies, their interaction with the students, arranging for the pre-placement talks, tests, interviews, entire work is done and co-ordinated by the student authority under SPC.
