During 2007 the Karnataka Government launched a number of government colleges all over the state and Nanjangud Government college is one among them. It came into existence in 2007 and is affiliated to the University of Mysore. It is co educational college. At present the college is running in a rented building and the construction of new building is in progress and is financially assisted by the Government of Karnataka. The college is a centre for graduate education offering degree courses in Science, Humanities, Commerce and Business Management. The student strength of the college is consistently on the rise. College is providing access to diverse groups of society and is providing equity in terms of gender as well as caste. Nanjangud being the second highest sales tax paying taluk after Bangalore is surrounded by varieties of industries.
