Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Ahmedabad was established in August 1994, with an objective of imparting higher education in various fields of engineering and technology. This institute is recognized by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and Institute of Engineers (India). The college is administrated by Directorate of Technical Education, Gujarat State, Gandhinagar and is affiliated with Gujarat Technological University. In 2005 the college was shifted at its new campus at Chandkheda, Ahmedabad. The new campus has total 12 blocks with built-up area of 21,000 sq. meter.
All the departments of the institute have well equipped laboratories to cater the U. G. as well as P.G. programmes. In addition facilities such as library, computer center, Internet facility and workshop are also available.
Hostel Facility
Hostel Facilities Available: Campus also has a facility of separate Girls and Boys Hostel for the students coming from outside of the city. The boys hostel with intake capacity of 282 students is situated in college campus itself. The girls hostel as well in college campus has intake capacity of 60 students. Admission to the hostel is given on the bases of state Govt. rules. Mess and canteen facilities are available in both the hostels. In the nearest future hostel blocks will be constructed in the existing new campus. The Canteen facility is provided at the institute building.
Placement Service Available: The placement and training cell of the institute serves as an efficient linkage between the institute and the industry. The main objective of the cell is to focus on the over-all development of the students through training and expert lectures. The cell is functioning with interaction with industrial experts, professional engineers and management consultants. The cell also arranges industrial visit of the faculty members. The students of our institute were selected in various campus interviews like Army-University Entry Scheme, Satyam Computers, HCL Infotech, Circuits Systems, Torrent Power, Torrent India, L & T infotech Ltd., M/s. Persistence Systems, etc. The cell is interacting with various companies for recruitment of the students as graduate engineer, trainee, software development engineer or management trainee. Special classes are conducted to improve the communication skills of the students. The cell looks forward for the placement of the students of all disciplines of the institute. We foresee to join hands with the industrial giants for the placement of the students of all the disciplines of the institute in the new campus.
