Government first grade college, Shivamogga came into existence in 2006 as a College catering to the educational needs of economically and socially backward sections of Shivamogga District & the neighboring Districts. This institution with its affordable fee structure serves as a boon to poor students. At present, the college is a Centre for Degree Level Education, affiliated to the Kuvempu University, giving education in the Faculties of Science, Arts , Commerce & Management for a total Student strength of about 2251, in as many subjects as 9 in Arts Faculty, 4 in the Science Faculty & 2 in subjects Commerce & Management Faculty.
