Selvamm Arts and Science College was established by the pioneer in poultry industry and a philanthropist, Dr.P.Selvaraj in 2000, under the auspices of V.Ponnusamy Educational and Charitable Trust, which was formed in the fond memory of his late father. The college is fully self-supporting and it has been founded to serve the youth of the predominantly agricultural, underprivileged and downtrodden families in the neighbourhood. Started with 3 courses, 7 faculty members and an initial intake of 77 students in a temporary building on the Trichy Road, the college was shifted to the present sprawling Selvam Campus the next year, 2001.
Library : The Central Library was installed in the academic year 2000-2001 with 750 books. The Library is situated in the first floor of Arts Block with a separate two tiered separate wing. All Books are stocked in upper berth. The lower berth is meant for reading and reference purpose.
Presently, it accommodates 16,670 books for the benefit of the staff and students. There are 39 journals and 55 magazines in this Central Library. For fast and reliable Library services (like circulation service, OPAC service etc), we have implemented Library software named Lips iNet 5.0.

Transport: Our college owns a fleet of 83 buses and these buses operate along nearly 50 routes in and around Namakkal, Salem and Erode Districts.
