Chapra Government College was set up at Mouza-Shikra, J.L. No.-23 vide G.O. No. 972—Edn (A)/10M-9/13 on the 30th of October, 2013, in the village of Shikra under the Chapra Administrative Block. Being located at a point where students from the adjoining villages (viz. Haatkhola, Mahakhola, Ranabandh and Gongra) can easily commute to, the college provides an excellent opportunity for higher education to the relatively disadvantaged demography of the region. It is also favourably located from Srinagar (12 kms) and can be reached by bus or local shuttle-car service.
