Mrinalini Datta Mahavidyapith is a fifty year 'young' and highly popular co-educational degree college affiliated to West Bengal State University (Barasat). Situated at a mere five minutes walking distance from the Birati Railway station, the college is well connected to Barasat, Belghoria & Dakhineswar via train, bus and auto routes. In fact, the Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Dumdum, is only twenty minutes from here. MDM offers 16 honours, 19 general, 2 professional degree courses at the under-graduate level and 1 degree course at the post-graduate level.
Health Care: In case of illness students can avail facilities like consultation with general physicians as well as specialist doctors in Eye, ENT, Medicine, Skin, Orthopaedics, Psychiatry, Gynaecology, Cardiology etc. at absolutely free of cost.Students can get medicines and undergo diagnostic procedures like X-Ray, ECG, EEG, Physiotherapy, Pathology test, Spectacles, Minor surgery (OPD), Injection, Tooth extraction etc. at nominal charges (as low as Rs.2/-).Every student of the college has been covered under Safety Insurance scheme that provides insurance to students in case of accidents, death etc. against an annual payment of Rs.10/- only.
Canteen: Our cozy college canteen is the preferred hangout point of the students! It is the ideal place for not just physical refreshment but also for student bonding, discussions, debates, and even projects and assignments. The canteen serves a variety of good quality food and snacks items at subsidized rates. It is blessed with a family atmosphere, touched with a homemade flavor, cooked with care, and served with courtesy. The canteen floor can conveniently accommodate fifty students at a time. The kitchen is equipped with electrical automatic cooking and storage facility. All food is prepared using RO treated purified drinking water.
Library: The Central library of the college has an area of 6000sq.ft well stocked with books, journals, and computers. Another library with about 5000 books has been set up in the new building for exclusive use of the students enrolled to the Bengali PG department to facilitate easy access of books and reading materials for higher studies. Also, each department has been provided with almirahs, book shelves to stock books related to their particular discipline to form a Departmental Library.
