Sree Sowdambika College of Engineering established in 2000-2001 is an educational Institution promoted by the philanthrophic “Chockalingapuram Devangar Varthagar Sangam”, founded in 1919 by our prophetic forefathers. Understanding the need for higher education, the trust started Sri Sowdambika Polytechnic College in 1984-1985 and Sri Sowdambika Convent Matriculation School in 1986-1987. Sree Sowdambika College of Engineering is one more gem in their service to education. The board of Management constituted by the Chockalingapuram Devangar Varthagar Sangam helps in the development of the instituation with a missionary Zeal.

Eligibility
Admission under Management Quota is carried out as per the State Government norms prescribed then and there and State Board Committee fees are collected from the students. A particular date is announced by Anna University for the commencement of the I year classes and the candidates admitted are directed to attend the classes accordingly.
(i) For Open Competition (irrespective of Communities) -  A minimum average of 50% and above in Mathematics(M), Physics(P) and Chemistry(C) put together in 0.5*M+0.25*(P+C)
(ii) For BC / BCM (BC Muslim) Communities - A minimum average of 45% and above in Mathematics(M), Physics(P) and Chemistry (C) put together in 0.5*M+0.25*(P+C)
(iii) For MBC & DNC Communities - A minimum average of 40% and above in Mathematics(M), Physics(P) and Chemistry(C) put together in 0.5*M+0.25*(P+C)
(iv) For SC Communities - A minimum average of 40% and above in Mathematics(M), Physics(P) and Chemistry(C) put together in 0.5*M+0.25*(P+C)

Admission Procedure
Applications for admission to B.E / B.Tech Degree courses in self-financing Engineering colleges under Government Quota (50 %) are called for through newspapers by the Dote. As per the Advertisement the + 2 passed out eligible students receiving their applications and submit the duly filled up applications to the appropriate authority before the prescribed last date. As the Entrance Exam has been done away with, with effect from 2008 – 2009, the eligible candidates are called for counseling at Chennai to choose the college and the branch of study in the descending order of the qualifying marks. The students who opt for this college are allotted to this college under Government Quota. Particular date is announced by Anna University for the commencement of the I year classes and the candidates admitted are directed to attend the classes accordingly.
