The College caters to the need of higher education of large numbers of rural students. The present enrolment is approximately 2,500 the lion’s share of which it has accumulated from the said socio-economically backward and tribal communities. As in this wide but marginalized, rural, remote and borderline area there are a number of schools but virtually no college at all, Doomdooma college is compelled to face the pressure of high enrolment with limited infra-structure and intake capacity. Thus right from its inception in 1967, the College singly has been spreading the benefits of Higher Education in a very wide area with a radius of 30 kms on average in all directions.
The College has an excellent digitized library with more than 25,000 text books apart from latest reference books, and a good number of journals and periodicals state, national and international status. The library has well-furnished, spacious reading room both for students and teachers separately. E-books and e-journals can be accessed through INFLIBNET-NLIST programme. It has well-equipped laboratories. A well planed in-campus fairly large playground, Basket Ball Court, Handball Court, Network Resource Centre with Internet, well furnished canteen, spacious Auditorium, a 10-Station Multi Gym, Health Cell, Book bank for economically challenged meritorious students, historical and cultural museum in the dept. of History.It also provides the facilities of Xerox, Internet and fax at concessional rates to students and staffs.
