Government Arts College

Salem Government Arts College at Maravaneri area is the oldest higher education centre in Salem District.The college offers 17 UG and 16 PG courses. 10 Departments offer Research studies both M.Phil and Ph.D. Well Qualified teachers in pursuit knowledge train students academically. They are made energetic by physical training given to them by athletics and sports. They are made to do service to the society through NSS, NCC and YRC

Library: Each department is having a library of its own with Textbooks, Reference books and Periodicals.Apart from the Departmental libraries, there is a Central library having Textbooks, reference books, Encyclopedias and periodicals. English and Tamil dailies, Journals and weekly / Monthly magazines are available in the reading section.Total number of volumes in the college library including those in the departmental libraries is approximately 70,000.
Co-Operative Store: There is a Students Co-operative Store, which caters the immediate needs of the Students. The Employee’s Thrift and Credit Co-operative Society functioning in the College advances loans to the Staff, which is repayable in installments with low interest rates.
Seminar Hall: Seminar Hall in the centinary building has a seating capacity of 200. This hall is equipped with latest audio facilities and LCD Projector. Many Ph.D viva voce and seminars are conducted throughout the year.
Canteen: Aavin milk parlour in the college campus,caters the students and staff for their food requirements
