B.Sc. Nautical Science | B.Tech. Marine Engineering | Diploma in Nautical Science | GP Rating (Deck/Engine)

1 .	B.Sc. Nautical Science
	Eligibility Pass in (10+2) From a Recognized Board with 60% Average in Physics, Chemistry, Maths & 50% in English Subject either in 10th or 12th Standard.
	Duration 3 years
	Other Details This Course will lead the candidates to become the Captain of the ship. Captain of the ship is also referred as Master Mariner. On successful completion of this pre-sea training, the candidates are eligible to become nautical Deck Cadets on board a ship. The leading International Shipping companies are regularly conducting campus interviews at Academy for the job placement.

2 .	B.Tech. Marine Engineering
	Eligibility Pass in (10+2) From a Recognized Board with 60% Average in Physics, Chemistry, Maths. COMPULSORY: 50% in English Subject either in 10th or 12th Standard (or) Diploma Level.
	Duration 4 Year Course
	Other Details The (10+2) candidates, when they complete 4 year marine engineering course successfully, they are referred as Engineering cadets. The engineering cadets are eligible to be appointed as a Junior Engineer on Merchant Ships. On completion of the stipulated period on ships and after passing the required competency Examination conducted by the Directorate General of Shipping, Govt. of India or Marine Administration of other governments, the Engineer becomes a Chief Engineer of a ship within 5 to 6 years.

3 .	Diploma in Nautical Science
	Eligibility - Pass in HSC/ ISC/ 10+2 or Equivalent with Math’s Physics a nd C hemistry with a PCM Average of atleast 55% (OR) - B.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Math’s or Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the years with an average of atleast 60% marks in Final year, (OR) - B.E. or B.Tech Degree from AICTE recognized college.
	Duration 1 Year Deck Cadet Course in collaboration with DGS & IMU
	Other Details This Diploma in Nautical Science course also leads to get B.Sc degree in Nautical Science by IMU. During the first 18 months sea service, IMU is conducting the Distance Learning Program (DLP) by giving the necessary study material. The below career path shows, that how a candidate can become a captain of the ship & the award of B.Sc (Nautical Science) degree by IMU at various levels.

4 .	GP Rating (Deck/Engine)
	Eligibility - Pass in 10th Std. with 40% average marks from a Recognized Board with maths, Science & English as compulsory subjects. - Candidate should have obtained 40 % marks in English subject either at 10th Std or 12th Std or any degree or diploma level. - Pass in 2year I.T.I. course from Govt. approved institute with maximum 50% aggregate marks in final year. (40% in English in 10th Std.)
	Duration 6 Months
	Other Details After completing this Pre-Sea Training, exams will be conducted by board of examination for Sea farers (BES) & successful candidates are eligible to obtain Continuous Discharge Certificate (INDIAN CDC) from the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India.
