The Institute of Environmental Studies was established in 2006 under the self financing scheme under the able leadership of Prof. S. R. Gupta of Botany Department. The Institute is now being headed by Prof. Smita Chaudhry, (Director), an eminent ecologist and internationally known academician.
Library: The Institute library possesses about 800 books, magazines and necessary reference materials in emerging areas of Ecology, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, Environmental Monitoring, Pollution Control, Environmental Biotechnology, Energy Resources, Global Climate Change, Energy Efficiency, Environmental Economics, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Modelling, Statistics, Remote Sensing & GIS and Encyclopedias.
Teaching Labs : For the practical and professional training of the students, the Institute of Environmental Studies has fully equipped experimental laboratories, computers and smart classrooms with Interactive Boards, Visualizer and LCD and OH Projectors.

Students are also getting fellowships like SAWA Fellowship for further studies.
