Jagadamba Mahavidyalaya

Jagadamba Mahavidyalaya run by Shri Jagadamba Vinkar Shikshan Sanstha, Achalpur City was established in 1962 with Arts and Commerce faculties with the noble cause of imparting quality higher education to the students in the historical city of Achalpur and the adjoining rural belt, situated at the foot of Melghat. The hard labouring and visionary weaver community understood the educational need of the region, realized the importance of higher education and took the initiative to establish the college for the promising, poor and students belonging to underprivileged sections of the society. They fought against all the odds to establish the college. It is possibly the rarest of rare example in the history of any educational institution that the founders themselves took pain to build the building of the college by rendering physical services. They showed exemplary vision for growth as well. Science faculty was introduced in the college in 1971.

Library: Jagadamba Mahavidyalaya, Achalpur city, is one of the leading colleges affiliated to Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. As has been rightly said that Library is the heart of any Educational Institute, the central library of Jagadamba Mahavidyalaya boasts of more than 40000 books in its stacks on various subjects. We can proudly say that it is one of the richest libraries, catering to the needs of students and researchers. It has been tirelessly quenching the thirst of book lovers over the years and spreading the light of knowledge. Carefully selected volumes of various subjects are on the stacks of the college library. The college library has also subscribed to reputed journals and periodicals. The library is updated regularly. In reading room, there are several facilities available for readers such as, reading section (News Papers, reference books, various competitive exam books), Internet facility by NRC, OPAC (Lib-Man Software) etc. The library also provides modern facilities to the staff and students. The library subscriptions include current journals and periodicals.
Games and Sports: The college encourages students to participate in various Games & Sports. We have facility for sports like Cricket, Basket-Ball, Volley-Ball, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Chess etc. The deserving students (Sports person) are expected to participate in these activities. The college encourages for the same and facilitates the best players.As per the ordinance of the Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University No. 1/1985 incentive marks are given to the students who participate in NSS, NCC and other extracurricular activities, games & sports. These incentive marks are helpful for the students to pass the university examination.
