Nangelil Ayurveda Medical College

The name Nangelil dates back to the legendary ancestral tradition of marma chikitsa in Kerala which created a new dimension in orthopaedic management incorporating modern diagnostic methods with a scientific approach.. Considering the profound proficiency, Dr Vijayan Nangelil, the great visionary and founder of this institution has been selected as the revered Guru ( Acharya) under the scheme of Rashtriya Vidya Peetom, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare , Govt of India, New Delhi. Starting of the Nangelil Ayurveda Medical College under the aegis of Nangelil charitable trust (Reg.No.SR/P/3-2001) in 2002 was a milestone in the growth of Nangelil group of institutions. ..Considering the facilities, Govt of Kerala had accorded sanction and approval to start the Ayurveda college, vide GOMS No 225/H&FWD dated 28.08.2002, and permission was also granted to conduct Para-medical courses here. This college is a self financing institution started with the aim to impart authentic wisdom of Ayurveda and conducts Ayurveda Acharya (BAMS) 5½ years course envisaged and approved by the CCIM vide letter FNo. 4-10/2002/Ay (1) dated 22.07.12 of CCIM New Delhi. The College is fully under the governance of the board of directors of the trust and Dr K A Bhaskaran, the renowned physician is the president of the trust. The College was affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University for degree course from the academic year 2001-2002 and later in 2010 got affiliated to the Kerala University for Health Sciences. Admission to degree course till the Academic year 2009-10 was under M.G University. The first batch under KUHS was admitted in the academic year 2010-2011.

Pharmacy – GMP certified Nangelil Ayurveda Pharmacy is a sister concern of the College and it caters for the requirement of medicines for the College Hospital. Apart from this there is another pharmacy for the practical training of the students.
Herb garden – The herb garden is of two acres. There are ….different species of plants in thee garden. The plants are scientifically labeled to aid the studies of the students.
Library ­– The central library has a stock of 5842 books. In addition to this there are department libraries in each department. The reading rooms can accommodate 70 students at a time. Books include very rare out if print books also.
Playgrounds etc – There is a good playground to facilitate the play of football and cricket. Apart from this there are facilities for badminton and volleyball. The ladies’ hostel is also provided with a badminton ground. Apart from these facilities, there are provisions for indoor games including table tennis.
Internet facility – Unlimited internet facility is open to the students and staff of the college.
Audio vision aids – Audio vision aids such as LCD projectors and overhead projectors are available in the classrooms. Sound amplification facilities are arranged in classes with 60 students. Sufficient number of charts and models are also available in the college.
