G.S.V.M. Medical College Kanpur, known for its academic excellence world over, is named after Late Shri Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi, a great freedom fighter ,who lost his life at the altar of the communal frenzy in Kanpur in March 1931. This was the first medical college of U. P. established in independent India, forming a landmark in the annals of medical education in the state of U. P. It is one of the five medical colleges in India established under the second five year plan.
Library - It has a large collection of textbooks and reference books and subscribes to a large number of National and International journals. The library also has a textbook bank for poor students. The library opens for thirteen hours on every working day between 9:00am to 10:00 pm.It is air conditioned and equipped with internet facility.
Auditorium - It is one of the biggest in Kanpur and has a capacity of 673 seats along with a huge stage and facility for screening films.
Hostel Facility
There are 9 hostels for medical students and resident doctors and one for Diploma in Pharmacy students
