Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology (MIT)

Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology (MIT), Muzaffarpur is a premier institution of eastern India for technical education. It is under administrative control of department of science and technology and wholly funded by Govt. of Bihar. Established in 1954, MIT is one of the oldest technical institute in India. The foundation stone was laid by the first prime minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It is affiliated to Aryabhatta Knowlege University, Patna and offers undergraduate programs in engineering and pharmacy with postgraduate specialisation in Machine design and thermal engineering. The institute also caters to the research and development activities of the state of Bihar.

Library: MIT has a well-maintained library equipped with thousands of books related all streams of engineering. The books related to literature, art, current affairs, etc. contribute to vital part of its large collection. The library has unique collection of some 15000 foreign and Indian journals in various branches of engineering and has more than 35000 of text and reference books. In addition to these, a general book bank is functioning with nearly 10000 books for all students and a welfare book bank having nearly 16000 books.
 
 Hostel Facility
MIT provides state of the art hostel facility for its students. There are total seven hostels including a newly built girls' hostel. All the hostels are well maintained and are equipped with all the modern facilities like telephones, color television, common rooms, ward servants, in-house games room and canteens.
