UPES is recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 and is the first university under Public-Private Partnership.UPES is recognized as a "Research Institution" by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), a part of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. This enables UPES to receive grants under the DSIR system.
UPES has established large number of laboratories for different programs related to its specific domains like Oil & Gas, Energy, Infrastructure, Aerospace & Aviation and Automotive Design Engineering. UPES is enriched with 70 labs, out of which 61 labs are catering to the needs of students and remaining are actively engaged for Research and Development in pursuit of excellence. All the labs are spacious and well equipped with basic and ultra modern equipments for providing hand-on training to the students as per the curriculum requirements. They are managed by specially trained technicians well versed in handling specialized instruments and machines like melting point measurement apparatus, polar meters, spectrophotometer, digital balances, etc.
Hostel Facility
UPES provides hostel facilities to its students on a 'first-come first-served basis'. Outstation students are given preference for these facilities. There are five hostel blocks with 555 bed capacity.
