Nalanda College, Biharsharif, Nalanda (Bihar) is the oldest College of the Magadh University. It was established a century back as the Bihar English High school. The College takes its name after the famous and ancient Nalanda University. The College was inaugurated by the then Lt. Governor of Bihar on July 20, 1920. The institution worked as a school upgraded into a school-cum-intermediate college and renamed Nalanda College. In the year 1948, the institution was upgraded into a degree college. It is presently a Postgraduate college affiliated to the Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya catering to both arts and science with about 4500 students on the roll.
Central Library: The central library of the college has at present around 24000 books and 800 journals alongwith INFLIBNET access to online information It has ably supported student, teachers and research scholars in pursuit of higher learning. Research scholars of other colleges and institutions in Nalanda district have also benefited from our library. The automation of library is in progress. The library is equipped worth 20 computers and the students/faculties can access information online.
Auditorium: The Auditorium/Multipurpose Hall has seating capacity of around 500 being used regularly for various activities, Cultural Programs, Meetings etc.
ICT(Information and Communication Technology) Lab: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is an umbrella term that includes all technologies for the manipulation and communication of information. It deals mainly with the uses of tools and techniques to enhance the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process. Educational Technologies (ET) deals mainly with broad theoretical and classroom oriented issues, including processes, while ICT in education largely deals with practical aspect of Educational Technology.
Psychology Resource Centre: The teachers are expected not only to understand children and how learning occurs but should also be aware of their inclinations, expectations, perceptions, dispositions, potentialities, acumen etc. Teachers with such technical know-how and confidence will not only be able to apply the theoretical knowledge to real life situations but will also be able to use the knowledge of their field and real life experience to construct. In the view of above opinion Psychology Resource Centre has well equipped psychological test apparatus such as mirror drawing test, intelligence test, memory test and some paper on personality, teacher effectiveness test to provide training for student-teachers that how to psychologically identify the individuals.
Physical Education: Regular physical exercises and training and active participation in various disciplines of sports and games are encouraged under the guidance of trained teacher and coach Team events teach us to contribute individually towards a common goal and to work for common cause. But individual events exhorts one to excel all others in the race. Athletics and indoor events like chess and carrom are a few of such individual events the trainees are encouraged to practice.
