Christ University was born out of the educational vision of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara, an educationalist and social reformer of the nineteenth century in South India. He founded the first Catholic indigenous congregation, Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), in 1831 which administers Christ University.

Eligibility
1. Masters in Journalism, or Mass Communication, or Journalism & Mass Communication, or Communication, or Audio-Visual Communication, or Electronic Communication. Or 2. Any master’s degree with relevant experience in the field of Media. Or 3. Faculty in colleges and universities with interest in Media Studies. Or 4. Any master’s degree with an aptitude in Media Studies. from any recognised University in India or abroad recognised by UGC / AIU are eligible to apply.

Eligibility
The minimum eligibility of candidates intending to pursue a doctoral programme is a pass with a minimum of 55% in a postgraduate programme and MPhil. The students who have cleared UGC-CSIR NET/JRF examination or SLET/GATE examinations and also the students who have worked as JRF for one year in the externally funded major research projects may be exempted from MPhil requirement. In case of internally funded major research projects (MRP), the students may be exempted from MPhil requirement after two years of research experience. Under certain conditions such as presence of high impact publications students with high academic performance at the postgraduate level, may be admitted directly to a PhD programme.
