UPDATE PHOTOS of Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education

The Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education, Kariavattom, Thiruvananthapuram which bears the name of Lakshmibai, Rani of Jhansi, the most resolute, patriotic and illustrious heroine of the First War of Independence, came into existence on 17th August, 1985 under the auspices of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. With the amalgamation of the SNIPES with Sports Authority of India on 1st May, 1987, the college became a part of the academic wing of the Sports Authority of India at par with Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patiala and Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education, Gwalior. The college aims to provide excellent facilities for the up lift ment of physical education and sports in the country and to serve as a model institute for teacher's training by offering undergraduate and post-graduate/ research courses.

Library:The college library has a rich collection of more than 8000 books on physical education, sports, sport sciences and general subjects. The college subscribes to 70 national and international professional journals and magazines.
L.N.C.P.E Health Club:The Fitness Centre begins with a fitness appraisal to assess our clients' current fitness level providing a basis for the client to develop the most effective fitness programme. A body composition analysis, goal discussion and programme recommendation are included.
Fitness center sections: Weight training room,Weight training station, free weights, and multi gym
Cardiovascular room: Treadmills, ergo cycle, rowers, cross trainers, steppers, aerobic air walker, fitness rider
Aerobics: Step aerobic, low impact and high impact aerobics
Mind body fitness: Yoga

Scholarship Facility
The college provides the following scholarships and assistantships to the eligible and deserving candidates as per the established criteria.
Academic Merit Scholarships: A maximum of FIVE Academic Merit Scholarships in each of the MPE-I and II classes will be awarded to meritorious students who secure 70% and above aggregate marks in the Annual University Examination. The value of Academic Merit Scholarship for BPE will be Rs. 2,000/- per year and that for MPE Rs. 2,500/-.
Sports Merit Scholarships: Sports Merit Scholarships upto 10% of the total sanctioned strength of BPE-I, II and III and MPE-I and II classes will be awarded to the medal winners at the All India Inter-University and National level competitions held in individual events and team sports during the academic year ending March. The value of Sports Merit Scholarship will be Rs. 4,000/-, Rs.3,500/- and Rs.3,000/- per year for gold, silver and bronze medal winners respectively.

1 .	Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd)
	Eligibility +2 or HSC examination or an examination accepted by the Academic Council as equivalent there to or S.S.L.C or equivalent examination with a certificate in Physical Education of at least two years’ duration from a recognized institution of physical education

2 .	M.Phil. Physical Education
	Eligibility candidate should have a) Passed Master of Physical Education Degree course (M.PE/MPEd) with a minimum of 55% marks recognised for the purpose by the University of Kerala. b) Physical fitness to undergo physical activities daily. He/She should have no physical or mental disabilities that prevent him from actively participating in Physical Education Programme. c) The candidate should be in the age limit of 21-26 as on Ist July of the year of admission

3 .	Master of Physical Education (MPEd)
	Eligibility (a) A Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with atleast 50% aggregate marks from a University - Indian or Foreign - recognized for the purpose by the University of Kerala.; OR (b) A Bachelor’s degree with Degree(BPEd)/Diploma in Physical Education (DPEd) of atleast one year duration with 50% aggregate marks, awarded by an Indian University or a Board duly appointed by the Education Department of the State/ Union territory.; OR (c) Indian or foreign qualification(s) recognized as equivalent to those mentioned in (a) and (b) above by the University of Kerala, provided, further, that the candidate should be in the age limit of 20-25as on 1st July of the year of admission

4 .	Post Graduate Diploma in Health and Fitness Management (PGDHFM)
	Eligibility a) A Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education of a University - Indian or foreign - recognized for the purpose by the University of Kerala.; OR b) A Bachelor’s Degree with degree (BPEd)/Diploma in Physical Education (DPEd) of at least one-year duration awarded by an Indian University or a Board duly appointed by the Education Department of the State/Centre.; OR c) Indian or foreign qualification(s) recognized as equivalent to those mentioned at (a) and (b) above by the University of Kerala provided, further, that the upper age limit for admission to the course will be 30 years on 1st July of the year of admission.
