The Department of Social Work was founded in July, 1981 and is the pioneer department in Haryana and its neighbouring states including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Chandigarh, to meet the pressing need for scientific education and training in professional social work education. The department aims to:
Impart education, training and research in social work in order to provide professional man power / human resource in social welfare and allied fields.
Prepare and provide professional service and leadership, and
Acquire and utilize knowledge of human behaviour, social systems, social policy, social service and institutional reconstruction.
Over four thousand books and National/International Journals; One conference room, two counseling rooms with audio-visual aids and supportive field work tools.
In addition to university placement cell, the department has also developed its own linkages with NGOs and Industries to help the students in their placement. Majority of our students are getting placement with the efforts of the department either through campus or off campus selection procedures.
