The Osmania University College for Women is a prominent educational institution in Hyderabad and started with only seven students admitted into the Intermediate Arts Course in 1924 in the premises of what was then the Nampally Girls School located in the "Golden Threshold", a former home of Smt.Sarojini Naidu. In 1932, the Intermediate Science Course was started and in 1935, Degree courses in Arts and Social Sciences were added.
The College provides adequate security to the students who now number over four thousand and are enrolled in the faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Commerce, Sciences and Business Managment both at Undergraduate and the Postgraduate levels. The college offers thirty-five subjects at the Undergraduate level and sixteen courses at the postgraduate level. The college has good computer and library facilities with access to the internet. Students are encouraged to participate in Sports, NCC and NSS, cultural and literary activities. Infrastructural facilities are available for both indoor and outdoor games. The college also has a firing range and parade ground for the NCC cadets. The Colllege has Gym, Cyber Cafe facility and in due course of time Swimming Pool will be set up for girls. The College strives to maintain standards of excellence in academic as well as extra curricular activities and thereby provides the students with the best of opportunities for complete personality development.
Hostel Facility
Hostel accommodation will be provided for 250 students of Under graduate & Post graduate students based on distance, family back ground and economic conditions. A.P. reservation rules are also taken into consideration for allotment. However first year UG students are not eligible for the admission in to Hostel.
Placement Cell was started, consequent upon the introduction of many professional courses offered in the College. The main aim is to help the students find employment. Every year campus interviews are conducted by various concerns and suitable candidates are selected from amongst students of this college. The placement cell plays a vital role in establishing contacts between students and employing organizations.
